After having some time to collect my thoughts. All I can really say is "What are we thinking?" We beat the Bills and then we struggled against the Commanders and Saints and beat the Jets and all of a sudden we think that the Steelers win will just get handed to us? The coaching has been horrendous all season and I am officially fed up with it. Tua has thrown 15 interceptions and all being zone defenses and everytime it seems like the team in a whole has never played against a zone defense which is exactly what every team plays against us. Are we not practicing against zone defenses?
This is a pathetic showing seems like we are not a real team and shows why all these years we can't beat playoff teams because we (as in coaching) are not in that same level. We need to move on from McDaniel and find someone else who can at least get us back on track.
Also, I have seen a lot of people blame Tua for the loss, this loss is not solely on him though he is part if the blame. We have had Tua for six seasons knowing full well his injury history at Alabama and yet lacked to give him a solid OL (primarily the Guards and a healthy RT). We finally found a run game, but was exposed when runs outside wasn't open which is the only thing Achane is good for because he is not a down the line kind of guy. And we can't rely on throwing the ball 75% of the time to a 5'10 slot receiver. We need bigger receivers and we have Waller who was silent until the fourth quarter.
I lived through seven seasons of Ryan Tannehill and watched fans fuss about the same exact things we are hearing about Tua now, and what happened to Tannehill after Miami? He went to Tennessee and made it to the AFC Championship Game. Not saying Tua is Tannehill, but I am seeing the same song and dance being relived and have a hard time blaming a quarterback for our dysfunctions. The QB position has became an overrated position because we expect them to be something they are not, and that is superman. There have only been a small amount of players who can do what Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen can do and banking on the possibility we can get that or the fact that we overhype guys like CJ Stroud and Jayden Daniels thinking they are the next coming and then having a down year and overall writing them off is embarrassing and just fueling my point.
To be good in this league, you need a good team. The Dolphins do not. If you have a good team, the team will make the QB look good. Ask Drake Maye, Bo Nix, Matthew Stafford, Jared Goff, and Jalen Hurts. These are guys considered top 10 QB's this year and I would guarantee would be in the same boat as Tua or Joe Burrow if they were at Miami or Cincy.
Enough with my rant, hopefully you all get my idea. Been a fan for too long and am aggravated that we continue to be in this same song and dance year after year and seems like we don't fix any of our issues and just blame other people for it. A new GM is a step in the right direction, but we need more than just a new GM, we need a new voice in the locker room.
