The Eagles are reeling from the loss in Super Bowl 57. The final QB kneels and the kick that gave the Chiefs the lead still haunts them. The last pass that couldn’t make it will stay in their minds until they will reach the top again. But, how can they get there? In this post I will try to get the Eagles back to a Super Bowl run by finding their new offensive and defensive coordinators, resigning and cutting players, and upgrading through trades, the draft, and free agency. This will be broken down into three parts, 1. Coordinators and resigning/ letting go of free agents, 2. Free agency, and 3. The draft, trades, and final moves for the depth chart/53 man roster. Enjoy!

If you haven’t watched part one of the series you should check it out as it will catch you up on what you missed.

First, the Eagles here is what the roster currently looks like. I will be putting the players the eagles should keep in parentheses {} and not putting the players in parentheses that I won’t keep.

OFFENSE Players count:22

QB:

{1.Jalen Hurts

2.Ian Book}

RB:

{1.Miles Sanders

2.Kenneth Gainwell}

3.Trey Sermon (Sermon has been helpful to the Eagles but they could find better Running Back options in fa and the draft)

WR:

{1.AJ Brown

2.DeVonta Smith

3.Quez Watkins

4.Greg Allen

5.Devon Allen}

6.Britain Covey ( While a subpar returner for the Eagles, he did not do enough to stay on the team)

7.Tyrie Cleveland

(Cleveland was signed this off-season to the Eagles, but I think it is clear that unless he does something insane he will be off the team by September.)

TE:

{1.Dallas Goedert

2.Jack Stoll

3.Grant Calcaterra}

LT:

{1.Jordan Mailata

2.Andre Dillard}

3.Julian Good-Jones

(Good-Jones was most recently a CFL player and earned himself a Future deal for the Midnight Green. But just like Cleveland I think he should be gone by the start of the year.)

LG:

{1.Landon Dickerson

2.Sua Opeta}

3.Tyrese Robinson

(Robinson was signed by the Eagles but just like Good-Jones and Cleveland, he will be back in fa.)

C:

{1.Jason Kelce

2.Cam Jurgens

3.Brett Toth}

4.Cameron Tom

(Tom spent this year like others on the Practice squad. I think he will be either sent back down or cut all together.)

RG:

{1.Isaac Seumalo}

2.Josh Sills

(If you search up what he was indicted for, you know why he won’t deserve a chance this year.)

RT:

{1.Lane Johnson

2.Jack Driscoll}

3.Jarrid Williams

(You know the deal, Williams was signed to a futures deal and his fate like the others will end him up in Free Agency.)

DEFENSE Player count:27

LDE

{1.Brandon Graham

2.Janarius Robinson

3.Tarron Jackson}

4.Matt Leo

(Leo was signed to a future deal this off-season, but I think he will end up in Free agency or the Practice squad.)

RDE:

{1.Josh Sweat

2.Derek Barnett}

DT:

{1.Javon Hargrave

2.Fletcher Cox

3.Jordan Davis

4.Milton Williams

5.Marlon Tuipulotu}

6.Marvin Wilson

(Marvin Wilson was signed to the P Squad last year and I think he will end up their again next year. Don’t get me wrong when he played this year against the Texans he did pretty well amassing 4 tackles and getting pressure to the QB Davis Mills, but I think he will stay on the p squad again waiting patiently to be brought up again for the right moment.)

OLB

{1.Hassan Reddick

2.Kyzir White

3.Shaun Bradley

4.Patrick Johnson

5.Kyron Johnson}

6.Davion Taylor (Since Taylor was drafted in the third round their were high hopes for him. At this point he hasn’t really even shown flashes of being a started so by now he should probably be on his way out.)

7.Christian Ellis

(He has shown flashes of being a solid player but I think the Eagles and Ellis will part ways by next season.)

MLB:

{1.T.J. Edwards

2.Nakobe Dean}

CB

{1.Darius Slay

2.Avonte Maddox

3.Zech McPhearson

4.Josh Jobe

5.Mario Goodrich}

6.Josiah Scott

(Scott has looked good and bad in situations this year for the Eagles, but I think to create some more cap space they should let him go.)

S

{1.C.J. Gardener-Johnson

2.Reed Blankenship

3.Anthony Harris

4.K’Von Wallace

5Andre Chachere}

6.Marquise Blair

(Blair was signed to a future deal with Philly but will most likely be on the Practice Squad or gone altogether.)

7.Tristin McCollum

(McCollum was signed to futures contract and I think he will be gone by the start of the season.)

SPECIAL TEAMS Player count:3

PK:

{1.Jake Elliot}

P & H

{1.Arryn Siposs}

LS

{1.Rick Lovato}

After looking at this, the current team count stands at 51 players, now we will look at the biggest team needs.

  1. Cornerbacks (Losing Bradberry and getting rid of Scott means they need an upgrade especially after they got smoked in the Super Bowl.)

2.Defensive Edge (Even with Quinn the Eagles needed improvements but without him they still need a lot to get done.)

3.Interior Offensive Linemen (Even though they have Seumalo and Dickerson, the Eagles need to add someone else on to help protect Jalen.)

4.Tight End (Tight Ends have been in my opinion an issue that many people haven’t highlighted. Sure, they have Goedert, but when he is injured or not playing the Eagles will need someone to step up.)

5.Wide Receiver (The Eagles have Brown and Smith who are great, but I think they need to add one more guy to full unlock the Eagles receivers potential.)

FREE AGENCY: Open Roster spots: 13

Isaiah Oliver (CB) |76 rating| [https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/isaiah-oliver]

Oliver is a cornerback currently for the Atlanta Falcons. He will most likely fly under the radar in real NFL free agency this year but I think he is a diamond in the rough. He mustered up 37 tackles, 1 interception, 7 passes defended, and a sack this season. Oliver is very much so dedicated to the game and is only 26 years old. He did face a setback with a tear his ACL in week four of the 2021-2022 NFL Season. He shows potential and could have a standout year in the Eagles paired with Darius Slay and Avonte Maddox.

Zach Allen (DE) |77 rating| [https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/zach-allen]

Zach Allen is a defensive end for the Arizona Cardinals. Allen amassed 47 tackles and 5.5 sacks this year. Allen was at the top of the ranks for Cardinals Defensive ends this year. He is listed as the 14th best free agent this year and is only 25. He is one of the Cards best players and would be a great pairing with Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat.

Ashton Dulin (WR) |72 rating| [https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/ashton-dulin]

Ashton Dulin is a Wide Receiver for the Indianapolis Colts. He had 15 receptions for 207 yards, 1 touchdown, and 13.8 yards per catch. Dulin is only 25 and has improved in every year he has played. Dulin earned an AP second-team all pro in 2021 as a special teamed. Dulin could be a great backup receiver for the Eagles and could be a decent returner as well.

Nate Davis (OG) |77 rating| [https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/nate-davis]

Nate Davis is right guard for the Tennessee Titans. Davis has been the Titans starting right guard since 2020. Davis could help bolster the line depth for Philly and could help fill in when their is an injury.

Alexander Mattison (RB) |76 rating| [https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/alexander-mattison]

Alexander Mattison is a running back for the Minnesota Vikings. Mattison had 74 rushes for 283 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 3.8 rushing yards on average. Mattison has been the Vikes backup RB for Dalvin Cook so he could deal with being in the same role. He shows copious amount of potential at only 24 years of age and could grow with Kenny Gainwell to the top of the Eagles running back chart.

Josh Oliver (TE) |69 rating| [https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/josh-oliver]

Josh Oliver is a tight end for the Baltimore Ravens. He had 14 receptions for 149 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 10.6 yards per average. Oliver is again another young player (25) who could show some potential for the Eagles. Also if Goedert goes down this year with an injury he is a trustworthy to fill in for him.

Duron Harmon (S) |77 rating| [https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/duron-harmon]

Duron Harmon is a safety for the Las Vegas Raiders. Harmon had 86 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 2 interceptions, and 5 passes defended. His 86 tackles last season was a career high, and as a veteran only didn’t start one game. He can be a good leader for the Eagles safety’s and help play if needed.

Jarrad Davis (LB) |70 rating| [https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/jarrad-davis]

Jarrad Davis is a linebacker for the New York Giants. Davis had 14 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and 1 pass defended. He is a decent player as a rusher and help with depth issues at linebacker.

Jeff Driskel (QB) |61 rating| [https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/jeff-driskel]

Jeff Driskel is a Quarterback for the Houston Texans. Driskel went 14 of 20 for 108 yards, 1 touchdown, a 70.00% completion rate, and 0 interceptions. With the Eagles losing Minshew, they will need a guy like Driskel to fill the roster and help the quarterback spot.

KhaDarel Hodge (WR) |71 rating| [https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/khadarel-hodge]

KhaDarel Hodge is a wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons. He had 13 receptions for 202 yards, 1 touchdown, and 15.5 yards per catch. He has worked for everything given to him and could be a solid player for Philly. The wideout shows that he could be a ok player if given a chance.

Part three will be out soon…
