The Bears need it all, so let's build a playoff team in one offseason, Jags style!
Signings
C.J. Gardner-Johnson
4 yrs., $60 million
We know C.J. is getting paid, so I'll go out and get him with the Bears near-infinite 2023 cap space. The Bears defense gets a beast of a safety, and one of the 2022 interception co-leaders.
Tremaine Edmunds
5 yrs., $65 million
Despite having 5 NFL seasons under his belt, Edmunds is only 24, as he's one of three players ever to be drafted under the age of 20. A young stud middle linebacker who can grow with the system and has 5 seasons of experience is the exact thing Chicago needs.
DJ Chark
3 yrs., $21 million
Despite injuries, Chark still had a good 2022, and is still a great, athletic weapon, at 6'4", 205 lbs. He could turn into an awesome weapon for Justin Fields, alongside Claypool, Mooney, and maybe even a trade acquisition (DHop?)
Justin Houston
2 yrs., $16 million
Adding a veteran coming off his best season in years could be a great addition to a young team, not just for mentoring purposes, but also for the fact he showed he's still good.
Jonathan Jones
3 yrs., $30 million
Jones is another quite good Patriots corner, who performed at a high level in the wake of JC Jackson leaving last offseason. He pulled off 4 picks from opposing QB's, and a skilled corner like him is a good addition to this Bears defense.
Mike McGlinchey
4 yrs., $40 million
A massive 6'8" tackle playing for a team which may win the Super Bowl is something Justin Fields definitely would want, so I'll get one of the top right tackles in the game as reinforcement for a bright talent at QB.
Draft
1 Pick: Select Will Anderson Jr.
Although Chicago could pull off some wicked trade deals and get tons of premium future picks, I believe the superstar Alabama edge is more worth it. Anderson, Houston, and other new players mixed with existing and drafted talent is going to make for a defense bearing scary resemblances to the Monsters of the Midway.
3rd round: Draft a RB
With the Bears likely losing David Montgomery, adding a young, talented running back from this extra-talented RB class to the already skilled pair of Fields and Khalil Herbert should be a great move for getting this offense to new levels.
I believe the roster could pull off a 6 or 7 seed. Give me thoughts below!
