American former was a cornerback who played in the NFL for 13 seasons. He played college football for South Carolina. He had 52 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, and nine passes defended, which earned him Freshman All-American honors eventually being selected 10th overall in the 2012 NFL draft by the Buffalo Bills. Also playing for New England Patriots (2017–2020), Carolina Panthers in 2021, Indianapolis Colts in 2022, Dallas Cowboys in 2023, and last playing for the Minnesota Vikings in 2024.
