Recently, the Rams announced their desire to trade away former All-Pro receiver Cooper Kupp this off-season. And, in my hypothetical trade scenario, I have the Rams striking up a deal with their LA brethren, the Chargers, sending Kupp cross-conference in exchange for a 3rd and 5th round pick in this year's draft.
This return may seem shocking, considering how Kupp is only 3 years removed from being named the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year. However, I would not be surprised by this package, especially if the Rams are unable to find a suitable trade partner early on. Remember, this is all about finding the best value. GM Les Snead would save his team $20 million by trading him away, and their willingness to find a trade like the one I designed here is proven by the Jalen Ramsey deal in 2023. This isn't to say this return is small, but I just don't think when Kupp is traded it is going the large exchange of assets like some may think.
So, what are your thoughts about this trade? Do you think the Chargers would go for someone like Kupp? Jim Harbaugh's offense is certainly run-oriented, but I think adding a veteran to play with Justin Herbert, and to run alongside Ladd McConkey and Quinton Johnston might be exciting!! Do you think this trade is realistic? Who do you think Kupp will be traded to?
