A native of the Florida panhandle, Thomas was a 4 star recruit and chose to stay close to home and play for Florida State. After seeing limited action his freshman and sophomore campaigns, Thomas jumped into a starting spot his junior year, and was a bright spot on an otherwise terrible Seminoles team.
