Offseason hires:
HC Mike Vrabel
OC Josh McDaniels
DC Shane Bowen
Cap Casualties:
WR Kendrick Bourne
Extend:
DE Deatrich Wise(3 years, $26 mil)
Wise is a veteran presence that can mentor the younger pass rushers, as well as being a key rotational piece.
Sign:
WR Tee Higgins(4 years, $115 mil)
Drake Maye gets his WR1. Tee Higgins is available, and the Patriots shouldn't pass up this opportunity. Getting Drake Maye a go-to guy would go a long way towards getting the offense back on the right track.
G Teven Jenkins(3 years, $38 mil)
The Patriots need better play from their guards. Jenkins provides that, as he's been a bright spot on an otherwise not-so great Bears OL, and he will give Drake Maye's protection a boost in addition to getting lanes for the RBs to run.
TE Tommy Tremble(3 years, $14 mil)
Tremble offers similar production to Austin Hooper, but he's much younger. He should still offer value as a rotational TE for Drake Maye.
G Andrus Peat(1 year, $7 mil)
This is a bargain signing that improves the OL depth, which is something the Patriots need.
EDGE Payton Turner(2 years, $14 mil)
Turner is a former first round pick who hasn't seen much success in New Orleans, a change of scenery might help. He'd offer pass rush depth in a room that needs it.
LB Tyrel Dodson(1 year, $8 mil)
This is a bit of a reclamation project "prove it" deal. The Patriots could use upgrades to their LB room.
K Austin Siebert(1 year, $8 mil)
Joey Slye has been inconsistent at times, so an upgrade at kicker is necessary.
Draft:
Round 1:
4.Travis Hunter-CB/WR, Colorado
Hunter is a special athlete that fills 2 holes for the Patriots. The Patriots grab a shutdown corner opposite Christian Gonzalez in addition to another weapon to add to Drake Maye's arsenal.
Round 2:
38.Landon Jackson-EDGE, Arkansas
With this pick, the Patriots add a guy that should be one of their long-term pass rushers. Jackson is good in both stopping the run and rushing the passer, and he can play anywhere in the front 7.
Round 3:
70.New England Patriots-Josh Conerly Jr-OT, Oregon
With this pick, the Patriots grab a long-term OT opposite Caeden Wallace.
77.Lander Barton-LB, Utah
The Patriots here grab another potential long-term LB.
Round 4:
106.Cam Skattebo-RB, Arizona State
Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson might not compromise the RB room for much longer, with how deep this class is, the Patriots could grab a long-term RB1 as late as the 4th round.
Round 5:
142.Yahya Black-DT, Iowa
With this pick, the Patriots bolster their depth on the d-line.
Round 7:
216.Fernando Carmona Jr-OT, Arkansas
With this pick, the Patriots bolster their o-line depth.
219: Woodi Washington-CB, Oklahoma
The Patriots grab CB depth and add potential special teams value here.
238: Noah Fifita-QB, Arizona
With this pick, the Patriots add a long-term QB3.
