Names to look out for in Free Agency: QB Edition

Let me know if y'all would be interested in more content like this

Daniel Jones

After an explosive start with the colts, Daniel Jones lost a step halfway through and then tore his Achilles, ending his snowballing season. However, those first 2 months let him show that he can be great with the right help. It is worth noting Jones fall off was accompanied by Jonathan Taylor not being as explosive as he started off. Now as free agency looms, we'll see if the colts want to keep him around or if they take it a new direction.

Best fit: Miami Dolphins

I think someone like Achane can help Jones attempt to do exactly what he got to in Indy. They clearly want a change at QB, and Danny can be that guy. If they can acquire him, they can focus on Oline and defense in the draft in order to protect him and not make him put up 40 a game.

Malik Willis

Malik looked great in his limited playtime with the packers, getting injured in week 17 against Baltimore. My main concern his that sheer lack of playtime, but in his time he put up 422 yards, a whopping 86 cmp%, and a 3/0 TD/INT. Additionally, he showed his dual threat ability by putting up 123 on the ground and 2 TDs. There's many teams that would take a shot on him, but I like one more than any other

Best fit: Minnesota Vikings

I know Minnesota is in trade talks for Richardson, but the answer might be right in their division. KOC is supposed to be the QB whisperer, why not give him someone who's already shown talent and potential? Malik was great with the cast he had in green bay without an established WR1, why not give him Jettas and Addison?

Aaron Rodgers

There's a very real chance A-rod isn't done yet, and he's not signed through 2026-2027 with the steelers. While Rodgers was fine in Pittsburgh, they barely snuck into the postseason after a missed kick and got stomped in the wild card. Going into the offseason, I personally believe the steelers were resign him. However, I'm not here to predict where he'll end up, I'm here to say where he should. And there's a few teams I think should pick him up. However after thinking about it, I've decided on

Best fit: Atlanta Falcons

This team has all the talent in the world in a weak division, all they need is a QB. They've got an elite WR1, one of the best backs in the game, a TE who is so gifted. Not to mention an explosive pass rush (which albeit will take a blow now that Pearce is gonna be behind bars). They've got all the pieces to be in win now mode, signing Rodgers would put that into full throttle. I love the talent with Penix, but he's far too injury prone as of now. Kirk is out the door, why not pick up a better vet? Speaking of which...

Kirk Cousins

Kirk was alright with the falcons this year, putting up 1700, 61 cmp% and a 10/5 TD/INT. However it's been confirmed the falcons won't be rostering him going into next season, so where will he go? My answer may come as a surprise to some, but there's one team I think could use him (although financial burden may be an issue)

Best fit: Houston Texans

I don't think he'd be an immediate starter, but he could challenge Mills and Stroud for the starting job. CJ has been less than impressive since his breakout rookie season, and Houston has the chance to show him they're not scared to look at other options. If Kirk did win the starting job, then Houston would have needed to bolster the line, otherwise he's not gonna stay healthy very long. I doubt this one will happen, but I wouldn't mind it if it did.

Marcus Mariota

Mariota put up okay numbers in Jaydens absence, with 1700 yards, 10/7 TD/INT, and 61 cmp%, quite similar to Kirk. While he's a great backup and Washington would like to keep him around, I believe he's gonna search for a starting role. Plus he's 32, so not a young buck but has some more left in the tank. While I struggled with finding him an ideal fit, there's one team I think could have an eye on him

Best fit: Arizona Cardinals

The Cards are quite an incomplete team, but Mariota has enough years left where they can rebuild and he can hold down the fort and keep them competitive until they can find a franchise guy. Arizona has been stuck in Kyler Murray purgatory for a while now, and it's becoming apparent he won't be their guy next year. Mariota can at least keep them in games, although any playoff berths may prove difficult in this brutal division where 10-7 may just be 4th place.

And finally...

Joe Flacco

Flacco was awful in Cleveland, putting up 2 TDs and 6 INTs. However after an early season trade to the Bengals he started lighting it up, putting up 13 TDs to 4 INTs before Burrow returned, including an instant classic victory over fellow vet Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers on Thursday Night football. Flacco clearly has some talent left, and it'll remain to be seen whether or not he comes back next year. But for all intents and purposes we'll assume he is.

Best fit: Indianapolis Colts

Colts could be in the QB market if Jones in fact leaves, and Flacco has some familiarity with the team. He wasn't great, but JT has only gotten better, and signing Joe to a relatively cheap 1-year deal could allow them to surround him with talent. They're looking to win now, bring in a vet with experience to try and do that. And if not he'll hold down the fort while they search for someone long-term.

I am well aware the Jets need a QB. That said, I don't think anyone of the top names in FA are a great fit. That team is a mess, don't think there's much hope of saving it right now.
