For the first time in many years, the Wizards are looking to become competitive again. Starting with the draft, the Wizards will select AJ Dybantsa to play the small forward, being a potential franchise superstar for Washington. His high upside as an athlete gives him both insane potential on the offensive and defensive end. Moving on to the roster, new additions Trae Young and Anthony Davis will remain with the team despite trade rumors. While there is noise that AD wants out, Davis will begin the year on the Wizards as an attempt to be competitive and can always be moved at the trade deadline if underwhelming or hurt. Additionally, Kyshawn George and Alex Sarr will continue to grow on strong seasons. For the bench, Bub Carrington, Bilal Coulibaly, and Trey Johnson will all be key young players who can develop and one day start depending on the status and contract situations of players such as Trae Young, Kyshawn George, and Anthony Davis. The signing of Jock Lansdale to a 2 year 8M contract provides depth to the center position after a break out year last year. Additionally, the Wizards will trade for Derrick Jones Jr. using Cam Whitmore and 3 second round picks for big man depth, athleticism, and finishing.
