Hi all! I’ve been quite busy with work and applying to college as of late, so I haven’t had the time or energy to post as much. I hope to put out more content as we get closer to the draft though! Since it’s been a while, I thought I would share with you some hot takes I’ve developed in recent weeks.

Jase Richardson should be a top ten pick. He’s a really smart player who’s shown he can be effective in both a low usage role while flashing potential as a high usage player.

People are sleeping on some of the “older” prospects in this draft. Nique Clifford, Rasheer Flemming, Danny Wolf, and Yaxel Lendeborg are top 20 prospects on my board. Some other guys like Chaz Lanier and Tyrese Proctor are sneaking into the top 30 on my board as well.

Sergio De Larrea is the best international prospect in the draft.

Khaman Malauch might have a higher ceiling defensively than any prospect other than Wemby in the past several years….

It has taken me way too long into this years NBA Draft cycle to make my first mock draft, but hey it’s better late than never right? I’ve had a ton of fun watching film on this years class so far and am looking forward to continuing to do so as we approach the draft. This mock isn’t predictive of what I think the teams will do, but is instead what I would do if I was picking for each team. Please be sure to comment any opinions, thoughts, or questions you might have as I'd love to talk draft with you all!…

I am going to speak from the heart in this post. Despite not being a Dallas Mavericks fan, they are a team I generally enjoy watching more than most teams, and that is because of Luka Doncic. The Slovenian star who fell into the Mavericks laps in the 2018 NBA draft. He was a star the moment he stepped onto the court, and has been one of the best players in the NBA for years. Last season was his best year yet, putting up incredible statistics and leading the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA finals. While they did not end up winning the championship, it was very obvious to me that this team was going to be in the contenders conversation for a while. Luka is just entering his prime, and they have managed to build a really good team around him. The future was very bright for the Dallas Mavericks.

That is until last night, where the Mavericks made one of the most unexpected decisions in professional sports history. They traded Luka. The star that carried them to the playoffs and to the finals l…

Vj Edgecombe might be my #2 prospect. Insane athlete, insane defender, ridiculous offensive upside. I get the concerns people have with him, but I can’t not bet on him working out due to how much of an outlier he is athletically. He like just a notch below the Thompson twins in terms of his athleticism, which is insane considering the twins are two of the most athletic humans beings on the planet. Vj is a very special prospect with a ceiling just as high as anyone’s in this draft.

Derik Queen is a top five caliber prospect for sure. I can understand why people don’t like him as much as me due to his style of play not being as appealing to the eye as other prospects, but he is just so so talented and clearly has a lot of upside. He reminds me a lot of Alperen Sengun in a lot of ways, and those who have followed me for a while may know that I am a huge Sengun fan. I think he will have a lot of on court value the minute he enters in the NBA, and his longterm upside is very very intriguin…

We have gotten a little ways into the college basketball season, so I figured that now would be a good time to make a “my guys” list for this year's draft class! For those of you unfamiliar with that term, a “my guy” in the context of the NBA draft is a prospect (often one that isn’t super well known, though that isn’t the case every time) that you are much higher on than the consensus. I like to make a list of “my guys” every year, and I thought it would be fun to make a post talking about some of my early ones! I highly suggest that you check all of these guys out, and also that you make your own “my guys” list! It’s a fun process that I enjoy writing about! So without further rambling to increase the character count of this post in order to make it look more impressive, let's get right to the list.

Donovan Dent (Guard, Junior, New Mexico Lobos)

Donovan Dent was a prospect I liked a ton during last year's cycle, and it looks as if he has taken another step forward this year. He is …

I’m curious to hear what people have to say about this. Jokic certainly has received both his fair share of praise and criticism from fans, so I think it will be interesting to see what different people’s opinion in this is. I know what my opinion is regarding the question, and perhaps I will share that at some point after the results of this poll.

Also, please comment your answer with reasoning behind your choice! The goal of this post is to spark discussion regarding this question….

Collin-Murray Boyles is easily a top 15 prospect in the draft, and I currently have him in my top 10. It’s so easy to project him being an extremely valuable role player for a longtime, and he also is quite young for a sophomore in college (doesn’t turn 20 till June next year I believe). I don’t see a justifiable reason to rank him outside of top 15 on my own board right now, and he gets a top ten spot for me because I truly do believe he will end up being a starter in the NBA.

I would draft Asa Newell before any other “big man” in the draft not named Collin Murray-Boyles (I use quotations because I don’t think CMB or Newell will play at center consistently in the NBA. I think they’ll both get relatively even playing time at the PF and C positions). He gets an A+ in energy and hustle, can score very efficiently on his two pointers, and is really growing as a defender. Oh, and did I mention that he can also make three point shots? I don’t expect him to be a star, but he has all the too…

Bogoljub Marković is a lottery caliber prospect. His size, fluidity, and versatile offensive capability’s will make him an easy fit in modern NBA offenses.

Kon Knueppel is the #6 prospect on my board right now and should be a lock for the top ten in any mock draft going forward. (I know that’s not necessarily a hot take anymore, but I think people are still undervaluing him in a way)

I wouldn’t draft Khaman Maluach in the lottery right now. He has a lot of upside, but he also just is not a very good basketball player compared to so many other prospects in the draft right now, and I also don’t totally buy into his upside in the way some other people do.

Tre Johnson is a top five prospect in the draft. I’ve been hesitant to put him there before, but he is way too talented offensively for me to not buy into him right now.

Collin Murray-Boyles has an argument for being a top ten prospect. He’s one of the best defensive players in the draft class and is a really smart play-finisher+pass…
