The Houston Rockets trade depth and young players for Giannis and Dame.
Why Houston does it: They build one of the best starting fives in basketball with 5 all star level players immediately becoming one of the favorites to win the championship.
Why Houston might not do it: They lose a lot of depth, picks, and a lot of their young guys. They take a risk in 35 year old Damian Lillard.
Why Milwaukee does it: They start a rebuild as if they fail to win a championship this season, there isn’t really much of any hope to win one with the core of Giannis and Dame so they might as well trade them before their value goes down.
Why Milwaukee might not do it: They aren’t competing for a championship anymore and trade away their franchise legend Giannis Antetokounmpo not knowing if they will ever get someone like him again. They take some risks in young guys and take risks in draft picks which, considering their GM’s past drafting decisions, might be busts. The trade should work in the offseason…
