Personally, I love Garland and Allen but all the rumbles out of Cleveland suggest if they build around Donovan Mitchell, those two are out of there. And with this New Orleans trade, the Cavs look to make the pieces fit a tad better. Firstly, in this new role, CJ can play a more natural complementary guard role to Donovan Mitchell, as he did next to Dame. This trade also breaks up the awkward double big man set up and instead provides some much-needed spacing and shot-creation at the four next to Evan Mobley, who can now play the five full time. And for giving up two young, talented pieces they get a first back in exchange to restore their pick situation somewhat.

---------- For New Orleans, they plug-in upgrades at the point guard and center spot. On offense, Darius Garland seems like the perfect point guard to play next to Zion given his off ball shooting chops. Yet, there's no worry about his size/defense with Murphy and Herb Jones on the perimeter as well as with Jarrett Allen at center. This NOLA team is sure to be one of the best defenses in the NBA with a nice scoring punch driven by Zion and Garland on the other end.
