I'm not sure why it's rejecting the trade based on the Stepien rule. The Kings had a 2021 draft pick.

I feel like there is risk for every team involved, but also some potential high end outcomes. I can see every fanbase thinking their team didn't get value or gave up too much.

Kings: The Kings are rumored to be aggressively seeking a player to "move the needle". Siakam and Simmons are the primary players rumored. Upside - they get an elite defender, all-star, and don't have to get up anyone from their core. Downside: If it doesn't work, they've no cap flexibility and given up a lot of draft capital that they'd need to recover from their mistake through trades or drafting young talent.

Hornets: Recently signed Oubre and have an extension for Miles Bridges coming up. They get a younger, reliably healthy, elite shooter in Hield and a free look at someone that was once considered an elite prospect in Bagley who's only 22 years old. If it works out with Bagley they can extend or sign and trade, and if it doesn't, it frees up money to stay below the luxury tax for Bridges extension and gives more cap flexibility with smaller contracts. Hield is also on a declining contract. Upside - Hield creates a lot of space for Melo, Rozier, and Bouknight; Bagley reaches his potential and blows up. Downside - Hayward stays healthy and returns to prime form for the 76ers, Hield doesn't move the needle, and Bagley does nothing, all while giving up a pick.

76ers: They get wing that has health issues but when healthy can space the floor, move the ball, and be secondary or tertiary ball handler, as well as adding a lot of draft picks that can be used in a trade for an all-star or high quality role players. Technically meets their criteria for an all star and multiple draft picks. Upside - Hayward stays healthy and adds an all star level talent, draft picks used to add another all star. Downside - Hayward isn't healthy or his age keeps him from matching his prime production and it's another large salary, draft picks either don't hit and/or a trade for another star never materializes.
