Big Board Rankings

Strengths

  • "One of the most polished pick-and-roll point guards in the draft. Sets up screens really well. Plays at his own pace. Soft touch on lobs."

  • "High-IQ point guard who avoids mistakes and shows savvy in generating shots for himself and his teammates."

  • "Excellent shooter who hit 43 percent of his 3s and 85 percent of his free throws in four seasons. He’s equally potent off the dribble and off the catch

  • displaying the ability to drain 3s off screens and make defenders pay if they go under."

  • "Good ball handler who facilitates offense all over the court. He can step back or side-step into 3s

  • or use a hesitation to get into the paint for a floater or layup."

  • "Displays nice feel in the pick-and-roll; he can get better at making advanced passes

  • but he’s above-average already."

  • "Good team defender who stays focused off-ball when rotating and closing out. Plays with heart

  • performing well even while battling injuries."

  • "Elite shooter who made 43% of his 3s in college; rated in 97th percentile last season as spot-up shooter"

  • "High IQ lead guard who makes smart passes

  • limits mistakes and can quarterback an offense"

  • "Engaged defender who consistently plays above physical limitations; plays with good anticipation and has always been good team defender"

Areas to Improve

  • "Not the most physically imposing prospect at around 6-foot-1

  • with a somewhat pudgy frame. Decent length relative to his height but nothing spectacular."

  • "Lacks a second gear off the dribble

  • which could limit his ability as a shot creator at the next level."

  • "Undersized player without top-end athleticism

  • which hurts his defensive versatility and upside."

  • "Injuries are a concern: He has dealt with nagging tendonitis in his right knee

  • and he played through a bone bruise in his left knee last season

  • among other injuries over the years."

  • "Physically limited: at 6-foot-1 is one of the smallest lead guards in this year''s draft

  • and he''s not the most explosive athlete

  • either"

  • "Overcomes lack of athletic pop with skill and feel

  • but can''t blow by defenders because of his smaller frame and lack of top-end speed"

Makes good reads in PNR. Can be an initiator for extended periods - 33 mpg JR & SR yr. Keeps his eyes up in transition- can make all the passes. A concern is his scoring in transition though. Patience and IQ to make plays. 43% 3pt on 5.6 att 42.1% on off the dribble jumpers. Polished Footwork and a few dribble moves have gotten him this far, but maybe not much further. 58% off screens, 46.9 on spot ups% - Reads defenses. Off ball Shooting potential is easily the most intriguing and potentially NBA ready part of his game. Convincing shot mechanics and base. Looks like a refined shooter. 44.9% on Runners & Floaters - 20th But can he create space? Hard to see that athletically overmatched, not impossible. Middling 52% at basket. CONCERN considering size and polish. Craftsmanship and engineer ability. HUGE intangibles guy. - Pedigree & production worth a flyer alone. Could be a defensive attacking point waiting to happen. May have maxed his potential. Could surprise in an underdog scenari
