Brockington didn't do anything too crazy in college, but seems to have an improved shot. His stock is on the rise, and now is the time to buy. He should fill a nice role in the NBA. He can make shots, and is a solid defender. His ceiling is low, but the instant impact intrigue is real.

Pre-Draft Team

Offense

  • Great elevation as a mid-range jump shooter.

  • Impressive pull up game. Can create off dribble.

  • Good shooting mechanics, should be a plus shooter at the next level.

  • Athletic scorer. Scoring prowess should translate.

  • Nice handle and ability to attack. Good burst.

  • Not much of a creator for others, but makes the right basic reads and doesn't turn the ball over much.

  • Feels like an NBA ready bench self-creator, a rare commodity.

Defense

  • Decent hands, creates a turnover here and there playing off-ball.

  • Has the quickness and athleticism to defend explosive players. Was a really fine team defender.

  • Engaged and communicative defender. Appears as though he will bode well in a system defense.

Swing Factors

Shooting Consistency - A guy who can score, and pull up at will is a rarity. IZB possesses those traits, now we just need to see it consistently for him to work his way into a sixth man scorer role.

  • Defensive Ability - Worked really well in the Iowa State system. Has the physical tools to be a good guard defender. As long as he grades out as average teams will have a hard time not playing him and harder time not rostering him.

Role

  • A scoring guard who can self create.

  • LOW: IZB struggles to defend and his shooting consistency is marginal. He slots in as an end of the bench reserve guard.

  • HIGH: Early and often Izaiah scores at three levels and gives his teams offense a spark off the bench. Defensively he is a positive team defender. He becomes a future sixth man of the year who points up buckets in bunches.

Fifth year senior Izaiah Brokington had a solid year at Iowa State. He showed off his ability to be a floor general. I don't think he gets drafted but he will definitely get GLeague looks thanks to his playmaking and ball handle.

Looks for the open drive with the ball. Speed a plus. Not too crafty, but creates comfortable space between him and primary defender. Good off-ball defender.

More turnovers than assists in college. Not the best at making decisions, especially in the clutch. Scoring on the handoff only source of bucket-getting.

Brockington had a breakout senior year and averaged 17ppg and 7reb for the cyclones. Brockington excells at creating his own shot and likes to play on ball and 1v1 style get beat people.Good off ball defender with good IQ.Big weakness is turnovers. He averaged more turnovers than he did assists this year.Brockington is a decnt shooter, good athlete, good rebounder.Cons are inconsistent shooter, not a true guard and undersized. Off focus defensivley at times.
