In certain ways, Kofi may be the most talented player on the floor during a game. Unfortunately, players of his type aren't value very highly in the modern NBA. All he will really be capable of doing is posting up. Fortuanetly, he is very talented in that department. He's a solid ball handler, so he's able to get just about any low post shot he wants. Nobody could really stop him at times just because of his sheer size. Due to his strength, he has potential to be a monster defender. He seems to have slimmed up a tiny bit and may be able to play a small role. He will still need to work on getting faster and more mobile.

Wingspan 7'3

Weight 285 lbs

DOB 9/1/99 (Draft Age: 22)

Pre-Draft Team Fighting Illini

Offense

  • An absolutely enormous presence on any level.

  • Will dunk anything and everything anytime. Can dunk from dunkers spot, out of PNR, rim running in transition, oops, lobs. A magnet for easy high percentage buckets.

  • Monstrous power, takes a village to stop at times.

  • In the post he is a one trick drop step scorer. Needs more in his bag. Decent right hook counter.

  • Absolutely insane offensive rebounder. Will create extra possessions and take kids lunches who try to box him out.

  • Improving screener.

  • Gets to the free throw line an outrageous amount.

  • FT% is back in the mid-60's this year.

Defense

  • Recovers really well for size.

  • Awareness in PNR is sound and he's in position enough that he will force kick outs.

  • Drops very low in coverages and times his point of attack tactically.

  • Stays vertical.

  • 14 Rebounds per 40. Hugely impactful here and comes down with the 50-50 balls. Knows the art of boxing out and maximizes his potential as a physical presence.

Swing Factors

  • Free Throw Shooting

  • Improved effectiveness as a screener

  • Remains a strong PNR defender with translatable recovery skills.

Role

  • Traditional big boy center who commands inside five feet defensively as a brick wall, gobbles up rebounds, and dunks everything.

LOW

  • Struggles to find a place in a rotation due to his limitations on both sides of the ball outside of five feet.

HIGH

  • A defensive anchor who enforces a strict code of conduct in his paint. A monster rebounding the basketball both offensively and defensively. He improves his post counter moves and free throw shooting while continuing to dunk basketballs in any situation without any regard for the rim.

Let me be honest: I don't see Kofi being a legit NBA player at all. Ok, that sounded harsh but you get the idea. I'm not too optimistic about Kofi. In college, Kofi was a man amongst boys. He is 7'0 with a 7'4 wingspan and weighs 285lbs. Those physical attributes are absurd. Of course, Kofi relies on his physical tools to bully and dominate with brute force. He is an old school big man who relies on getting putbacks and dunks. He is a beast on the boards. He also generates a ton of fouls. Outside of that, I don't see the appeal. I thought we moved on from the old school, back to the basket center thing but here we are. This guy can't shoot at all. Probably one of the worst shooters in the class. His face up game isn't that impressive. He can't really dribble. His passing in both the low and high post hasn't impressed me and I haven't seen a ton of flashes. He is pretty slow and I don't see him being able to keep up with anyone besides the other few back to basket bigs. Point is this guy has insane physical tools and is almost unguardable in the paint but I think on the NBA level, things he did in college won't fly. There is a good chance a team takes a flyer on him based on his surefire strength and size. I see Kofi as a guy who I'll see dominate the GLeague next year and I'll think "This guy was the definition of a college player who only dominated based on his physicals". I hope Kofi proves me wrong honestly he seems like a hard worker and he seems dedicated.

Kofi is not the nba modern center at all. He was a great player at Illinois in talk for Playe rof the year evry season. He dominates inside and finishes extremely well.Has great strength and great rebounder. Flaws is No jumpshot at all cant really score on face up and going one on one. Cant play make not good free throw shooter. Condtioning is down strugglees to rim protect and guard fast skilled players.

1st Round Pick - "Kofi Cockburn" He's a 7FT Center, He is Averaging 20.9 PPG in his 2021-2022 Career!, he is averaging 17.7 PPG in his last 2020-2021 Career, and he quite made a huge gap in his 2020-2021 through 2021-2023 Season. I was well impressed by his highlights he is my No.1 Pick Overall in this 2022 Draft. His stats are impressive as well! you know... He's a good Center. And the last thing I can say is he plays like Joel Embiid ngl.
