Big Board Rankings

Strengths

  • "Good size at 6-foot-7 for someone who can play point guard."

  • "He can make every pass in the book using either hand. He sees passing lanes that few others can

  • and makes the reads so quickly that it’s as if he’s two steps ahead."

  • "Slick ball handler who gets where he wants on the floor with his change-of-pace moves and tempo despite a lack of elite athleticism."

  • "Good touch on floaters

  • runners

  • and layups

  • which bodes well long term for his subpar jump shot."

  • "Intelligent off-ball player who cuts and relocates like a veteran."

  • "High-effort defender who beats opponents to spots and does a great job of fighting over screens."

  • "Alert team defender who rotates well

  • digs down in the post

  • and provides overall cohesion."

  • "Talented playmaker

  • particularly for his position; can put the ball on the floor and drive to create offense for himself and knows how to deliver dimes off the dribble"

  • "Very good handles allows him to operate as a lead guard

  • and he knows how to create leverage and space to prop open passing windows and generate open looks"

  • "Good finisher around the rim as a shooter and distributor; has good touch on his shot

  • which portends well for his long-term development"

Areas to Improve

  • "Lacks a degree of strength and explosiveness athletically. Can''t always beat better defenders from a standstill. Has struggled to put the ball in the basket at times against higher-level competition."

  • "He needs to improve his off-hand to compensate for the fact that he’s a below-the-rim finisher who struggles against length."

  • "Without a reliable jumper

  • most of his strengths are moot. He shot 28 percent from 3 and 66 percent from the line in three professional seasons overseas. There are some quirks in his jumper

  • especially in his wrist

  • that need to be ironed out."

  • "Less effective as a shot creator when defended by smaller players who get underneath him; he’ll need to make advancements to survive."

  • "Shot just 29.3% from 3 last season

  • a lackluster outside-shooting mark that could stunt his success if it doesn''t improve"

  • "Shows good touch on jumpers

  • but results aren''t there: he made just 42.3% from the field all of last season and 71.1% from the free throw line"

  • "Not an overly impressive athlete but tends to overcome it with a high IQ

  • good handles and good feel for the game"

Willing to lay his energy out on the defensive end. Type of dude who will pick up full court and challenge a smaller or less athletic guard. Active hands and feet. Gets through screens, smart on switches. Loves to take advantage of sleeping players and notices others awareness and lackadaisical passing. I believe he can thrive in whatever defensive role he''s asked to do 1-3 but especially on smaller matchups. Crafty to the bucket with multiple euro step variations, same foot same hand, floaters, and reverses. Shifty and deceptive. Good first step. Good pacing and feel in transition, PNR. Good first step. Shot is promising but slower release and possibly to low of a release point. Overall awareness and feel is highly encouraging. Has some flair and his playmaking abilities in traffic seem like they will translate. Passing can be flashy and errant. Shooting needs to be focus of his work.

Bolmaro is justified here because as a "draft and stash" could be a player to invest, because of his skill set on offense and defense
