Oscar Tshiebwe- Kentucky (C) Age: 23.6yrs 6’9 260 (Andre Drummond)(Isaiah Stewart)

The 2021-2022 Naismith player of the year is finally in the draft. Tshiebwe has been a dominant rebounder during his collegiate career with good position, strong hands and an excellent motor. While he is not extremely skilled or fluid offensively he has shown ability to knock down a mid range at times and shoot a decent percentage from the free throw line. Defensively he is not going to be a great rim protector but he does have active hands and can help prevent offensive rebounds.

Extremely strong and bulky big, dominated the SEC simply with strength and back-down ability Uncomfortable when outside the key, fish-out-of-water Beast on the defensive glass, averaged 15 per game at Kentucky, combination of a strong, two-handed gather and a bulky, physical frame is so deadly Impactful with offensive rebounds, created so many additional opportunities for the Wildcats Incredible and unstoppable in the dunker spot Really tough to stop in the post (in college), just bullied the opponent Impactful at the collegiate level on the defensive end, worked as a brick wall/block threat Non-threat as a shooter, never made any (barely shot any) three-balls at Kentucky, kills him as a prospect Just not an NBA guy, physicality reliance won’t work in the league that stresses manipulation/footwork (very team in the NBA has a guy that can lock down a guy like Tshiebwe, think how irrelevant Andre Drummond is in today’s offense) Lacks flexibility/any kind of quickness, can only guard bigs Overly impacted by double-teams, panicked at times Takes away from floor spacing, just a big blockage in the paint, hurts flow of offense/lane availability Unfunctional outside his comfort zone (when forced to shoot), lacks touch/smoothness Will lose his tea, games with poor free throw feel Big time screener, really effective and the roll man in the pnr Handle disallows any self-creativity, uneasy when faced man-to-man Doesn’t move well, pushes himself down-court at a slow pace Just gets blown by guards Shooting form is plain ugly, lacks feel Has strategy with his rebounds, predicts where the ball will land with precision Lacks mid-air adjustment, linear path to the rim once he lifts off the ground

Tshiebwe is what he is. The reigning national player of the year is a traditional centre who just does the necessities, he hustles hard, gets boards and protects the paint. When you need him to Tshiebwe can step out and guard the perimeter as well in certain situations. He works his ass off on the glass and collects rebounds like a geek with pokemon cards. Tshiebwe on the boards is the real deal. Unfortunately he is a old 1999 propsect, with little to no ability to strecth the floor and a weak jumper. He has shown some willingness to shoot some mid range jumpers but doesn't convert them at a consistent clip. To put it plain, if a team needs a solid back up big who does what he's supposed to do and that's it, Tshiebwe could be their guy.

Tshiebwe is the epitome of some of the best college players do not translate to the NBA. Lets start with the positives. He is a beast of a man. A beast of a rebounder with some of the best defense in the paint college basketball has ever seen. He is the definition of paint beast. However, he has very little else in his arsenal. He can bully college bigs, but not NBA bigs. The NBA is a league where Dwight Howard is in China right now. Yes, he is old. But, in china he puts up 30PPG against literal pros as a guy in his late 30s. Tshiebwe is not as good as Howard. Even now when one is young and the other is not. If a team takes a shot at drafting Tshiebwe I would be surprised even though he is reigning national player of the year.

Comparison: Shorter Dwight Howard

altura correcta para rim protector pero el no lo es, le custa la defensa de pick and roll y su aspecto positivo es la defensa de poste, gran reboteador en ofensiva y defensiva.
