Offense
Incredibly smooth shooter, a career average over 50% from behind the arc and 87% from the line. Regardless of playing DII ball anybody who shoots over 50% from 3 in their career on high volume is in special company.
Hudgins not only was a sharpshooter, but he shot 56% on 2's in his career. Incredibly crafty and deceptive as a ball handler/scorer. Gets good shots or probably doesn't take the shot.
Aware as a passer and kept his head up. Can throw a variety of passes that you love to see from NBA guards. 5.33/1.74 AST/TO ratio career.
Special as a cutter. Will get a defender turning one way for a cut and then relocate for a C&S three before the defender has turned their head back to him.
Defense
Defensive awareness is sound and he's aware enough to know when and how to get around screens.
Good enough foot speed that he should be fine against 1's. He will certainly be tested early on.
Wasn't often tested by great offensive talent in DII, the NBA will be different.
Great effort and engagement closing out on shooters.
Swing Factors
Perimeter defense - Hudgins defensive outlook remains unknown at best right now. He seems to have such an engagement in the game and a high IQ that this may end up being more of a strength than a liability. If it goes the other way teams will have to wager how much his shooting and offensive gifts outweigh his poor defense.
Playmaking ability - Hudgins is going to be able to shoot at any level, but will his DII playmaking gifts transfer to the league? Given how unique of a mover Hudgins is I think there is relative reason to be optimistic.
Role
An offensive sparkplug guard who sharpshoots his way on to the floor.
LOW: NBA size and athleticism is a different animal for Hudgins and he just can't cut it. We see him torching nets from distance overseas, remaining one of the best shooters on the planet.
HIGH: Hudgins absurd tour of perimeter shooting magic continues on the highest stage, he can playmake in spurts, and makes the offense more electric when he's on the floor. We see high assist numbers and outrageous shooting splits. Defensively Hudgins ends up grading as an above average perimeter defender. Hudgins headlines a bench unit and makes a push for future sixth man of the year awards.
