Big Board Rankings

Strengths

  • "Terrific athlete with a 7-foot wingspan that allows him to play bigger than his height."

  • "Intriguing offensive upside as a center: He’s a good screener and an athletic finisher. If his 3-point progress is for real

  • he’ll also be able to stretch defenses."

  • "Displays potential as a spot-up shooter. He has some funky mechanics

  • but they’ve gotten him this far. He has good touch from the line too."

  • "Excellent off-ball defender who communicates well and keeps his head on a swivel. He’s fearless

  • too; he’ll contest shots even if he risks being put on a poster. Typically

  • he’ll alter or block shots with his verticality and length."

  • "High-level on-ball defender. Quick laterally and can also switch on screens. He’s capable of containing guards and wings

  • though his thin lower body might limit him against bigs."

  • "Versatile defensive player on and off the ball with desirable measures; 7-foot-1 wingspan and great anticipation makes him a top-end defender to face"

  • "Bounce

  • bounce

  • bounce: Has great leaping ability and can finish with zest around the rim as a lob finisher and dunker"

  • "Showed improvement as a shooter each season in college

  • and made career high 41.9% of 3-point attempts last season"

Areas to Improve

  • "Played mostly on the interior in college but stands only 6-foot-7 and weighed 197 pounds last summer. Will need to add strength to handle big men in the NBA."

  • "Used as an interior player in college

  • which won''t be his role in the NBA. He’ll need to make adjustments to play on the perimeter."

  • "Turnover-prone: Weak handle limits his scoring ability

  • and he doesn’t react well to pressure when he’s in control of the ball."

  • "Limited offensive arsenal on the whole; Colorado used him as a power forward because of his size and rebounding abilities"

  • "Needs to improve as a playmaker with the ball in his hands; limited in what he can create on the ball and experience playing on the perimeter in college didn''t help"

RANK

Gets out and runs with the dawgs, runs really well in space and will beat most 4''s. 1.33 PPP at rim in half court offense, 86th percentile. Regularly active and aware. High IQ. Good foot work in most areas. Another wing defender with real potential. Can guard 2-4, hold his own vs 1''s. 7''1" wingspan and good fluid motion laterally gives him the ability to guard the perimeter. Rarely at a disadvantage on the defensive end. Shot blocker on the weak side help. Poor positioning can work against him at times on defense. 13/31 from 3. 42% His form looks good around the elbow and beyond. I believe his shot has the fluidity to become effective at the next level. Likes the face up game if the situation calls for it. Likely doesn''t have many guard skills for at least a couple years. Needs weight and strength. Unlikely to be able to guard 5''s. No post up game. Young Trevor Ariza is a possibility if the 3 takes the leap.
