Alexander is being wildly underrated due to his size (or lack thereof) and limited scoring ability. Nonetheless, his defensive potential is wild. He’s able to stick on his man, and has seemingly unlimited hustle. During the NCAA tournament, he helped Creighton come back against a tough San Diego St squad. He displayed his never back down attitude. He contested every shot possible, while giving his opponents a hard time. For his size, he’s able to grab a good amount of rebounds on the defensive glass. As a secondary guard, he has shown his versatility by defending bigger players. All that to say, he has some offensive skills too. He’s shifty with the ball, and is willing to take contact. He squirms to the hoop with his creativeness, and quick reflexes. He is willing to change his mind in an instant. He has blow by speed and an explosive first step. Floaters are a tool that most small guards use to get over big defenders. It is an essential move to have, and Alexander has a pretty nice one. He is smooth and fluid. His passing is also solid. He should be able to help run an NBA offense, with his back up playmaking skills. While he isn’t technically a point guard, he should be able to ease the playmaking load. He has his weaknesses including offensive rebounding. His size gives him some trouble in that regard, but it is really necessary for him to get those. He fights for the ball even if he knows that he has no chance at it. His shooting is very spotty as well. Like every prospect, he will have to put a lot of work in. Still, his unique defense should keep him of interest to scouts.
