The Hawks have surprised a lot of people this year being the 5 seed in the east and beating up on the Knicks 4-1. However, they are in no position to contend as of now so this move is to get the Hawks closer to contention. Another situation is what to do with John Collins in the offseason. Collins wants 100m+ and the Hawks, as they should, are hesitant to pay him. Exploring sign and trades should be in their best interest. CJ McCollum brings another certified bucket getter alongside Trae Young. Bringing in Rudy Gay also brings a reliable 3-and-D 4 who is gritty and has a lot of experience. For the Trailblazers they take on Gallinari's contract as he takes on a bench role and they get a young star to pair next to Dame and a new look and improved defense. The blazers will always have a top 7 offense in the league but now they have the chance with a new coach and new personnel to be a top 10 defense. They retain Powell as he does fit next to Dame very well as a gritty defender, and can do most things CJ can on offense but at a lesser level. Jusuf Nurkic's health remains to be a problem so bringing in a defensive back up in Nerlens Noel. They should also look into trying to get a playmaking back up PG such as TJ McConnel, Kris Dunn, or even Mike James from Brooklyn whos shown that he can contribute at the NBA level to winning basketball.
