The New York Knicks are one of the best defensive teams in the league. They are actually tied with the Lakers and are currently sitting in 4th place in the east. While they may not be title contenders this year(Or they can surprise us), they will be contending this offseason to acquire a legit superstar. They have the picks and youth to entice a team on giving up their superstar while having cap space to sign another superstar.

Knicks Trade: Kevin Knox II + Mitchell Robinson + Obi Toppin + 5 First-Round Picks for Damian Lillard. Knicks Sign: Kawhi Leonard.

The Knicks can do this and STILL be $26.2M under the Tax and have some cap space.

The Knicks are a "hot" free-agency target for a lot of players because they are FINALLY competing at a high level and playing terrific defense. This is pretty realistic because Damian Lillard at one point was interested in going to the Knicks, and he is "reportable frustrated with the Blazers", and the Blazers might go down the rebuild road. Also, Kawhi Leonard wanted to team up with Damian Lillard before teaming up with Paul George. Kawhi wants to play with a star PG, and Dame is one of the best.

A team of: Damian Lillard - RJ Barret - Kawhi Leonard - Julius Randle - Nerleans Noel with Rose, Quickley, and maybe Carmelo off the bench should allow the Knicks to not only be a top team in the East but in the league.
