This season has been an amazing watch as a blazers fan. Scoot showing flashes, Sharpe showing why he could be the star of this franchise, Toumani being one of the best defenders in the league already, Deni trade being a masterclass from Cronin, Clingan being one of the best rim defenders in his rookie year. This shows extra how theres some outliers in the team however, Scoot and Sharpes boosted numbers when Anfernee doesn't play and his inconsistency when he's on the floor. One night he scores 30 then the next 8. Aytons energy seems to be loved by everyone but not starting Clingan next season would be a crime. Grant of course should've been off this team 2 years ago but now he seems unmovable unfortunaly, But I for one is fine with him staying on the team, he will probably be a lot more movavble when he's an expiring contract. You can also bring up Robert Williams III but him as a backup would be awesome in my opinion.
These trades would bring in some veteran leadership, especially from KCP an amazing defender who's not had the best of seasons offensively but as a bench option he'd be incredible. Nurkic returning is a bit weird and he'd probably get like 0 gametime which is a little bit sad... maybe we buy him out? Okogie and Jeffries are basically just extras added in.
This trade gives us 2 picks in the near lottery range one at 9/10 and one at 15/16. With the starting lineup basically being filled and this probably being another transitional season if they don't somehow improve drastically the first 8 guys in the rotation is filled. Scoot, Sharpe, Toumani, Deni and Clingan with Grant, Robert Williams III and KCP of the bench. We still have some players like Banton, Thybulle, Jabari, Duop and Kris Murray who have played a lot this season (Thybulle since returning from injury ofc). However personally im not a big fan of any of these to be honest, Banton takes up a lot of usage, Thybulle seems to have improved a bit on offense tbf but KCP is just a better version of him, Jabari has probably been the best of these and might get a spot in the rotation, Duop is just not good and Kris Murray is... dissapointing. We'd probably do absolutely nothing in free agency if it isn't an extension which seems a bit early. These picks probably end up being pretty fun with the draft being as deep as it is. For the 9/10th pick (If it doesn't end up being higher) the dream would be someone like Tre Johnson or Kon Kneupell but both of them will probably be off the board at this point. I wouldn't hate a backup guard being picked here, if Jase Richardson is here I would probably pick him, Derik Queen is kind of the opposite but a great prospect so I wouldn't be against it, Essengue and Fleming seem like good players and if I had to choose between them two I'd pick Essengue. So my 3 I'd look at here would be Jase, Queen and Essengue. At 16 I'd pick McNeeley, he fell far and fast and probably for a good reason but I would love to see the Clingan and McNeeley minutes. What this Portland team needs is shooting and McNeeley isn't really that great from 3 at 33%. I would personally be hoping that one of Essengue or Fleming fall to 16 and draft them there. With all this said, personally I would go with Jase Richardson at 9/10 and Essengue/McNeeley at 15/16
