Blazers have too many guards— and a few contract extensions are due soon, so, they get Zion for cheap (his contract isn’t guaranteed, so if it doesn’t work out.. no biggie). The Grizzlies take Jrue’s contract, since he’s the easiest to part with, and get a pick as compensation. Pelicans get expiring salary and a young guy that can become something, plus a few worthless picks as a “sorry your star player didn’t work out, we still remember Greg Oden.”

Jrue would also be a GREAT piece for Memphis.. they’ve got young guards themselves who need a grit & grind mentor
