The Trail Blazer's have an interesting off season coming up. I do not envy Joe Cronin's position. For some weird reason I have a feeling Cronin is going to value Brogdon's veteran leadership over Ant's upside this offseason. Personally I hope this doesn't happen and they trade Brogdon but who cares what I want.
A few key things need to happen:
Clear up cap situation to add draft picks and not go over cap
Tidy up the guard rotation
Going to have a choose a wing or Reath to move on from
Knock the draft out of the park
First these two trades adds 16.5M's to the Blazer's cap to be able to add the TWO '24 FRPs. As well as choosing a direction between Scoot vs Ant, tidying up the guard rotation to Scoot, Shaedon, Brogdon. Matisse is expendable this offseason due to his lack of plus size and his inability to dribble. He needs to be moved especially since the emergence of Banton.
Assuming the Blazer's draft two player's at the draft (have 4 picks currently), the Blazer's would have 16 players. Therefore, they would have to make a decision to drop one of the young wings or Reath. With this trade going through and hopefully adding a wing in the draft, the 3's and 4's on the roster would be: Toumani, Grant, Kris, Jabari, Jett, Rupert, and a FRP. Personally I would look to trade Duop for some scraps because the Blazer's center rotation is solid. Then the Blazer's get to keep all the young wings and see who the guy will be with an offseason of improvement from the guys.
At the draft - the Blazer's need to come away with one of Matas Buzelis, Zacch Risacher, Cody Williams Ron Holland, or Tidjane Salaun with their pick assuming they do not get the 1st overall where the draft Alex Sarr. With the Warriors pick, I would like them to add a young big to the mix. Kel'el Ware will be a riser when the draft process starts like Lively was last year - that would be a great choice. Of course, if Clingan falls that would be an easy selection. Also if Salaun drops to this picks then select him there. I believe this draft class to be stronger than scouts project. There is not a superstar caliber player like AE, Paolo, Wemby but there are many role players that will play a decade plus in the NBA. I trust the front office to make the right decisions.
I would be happy going into next season with a rotation of: Starters: Scoot, Shaedon, Toumani, Grant, Ayton Rotation: Brogdan, Wendell, FRP, Jabari, Kris Deep Bench: RW3, FRP, Banton, Jett, Rupert
