This trade does work after the new league year where sharpes 22 million a year contract starts this makes sense for both sides, from Denver’s side it makes sense because they just came off an embarrassing loss to the Timberwolves without many of their star/impact players playing so maybe they are looking to shake some things up and maybe trading high in Jamal Murray who just came off a all star year makes sense with this trade they get jrue holiday who is a solid vet who helps them a lot right now with his defense which they need desperately also his championship experience and they get young guard shaedon sharpe who does help them right now aswell being a 20 ppg scorer but would be mostly help for the future hoping he can turn into a Jamal type of scorer being in the 25-30 ppg range in the future also they get 3 first which they could potentially use to make another trade maybe even potentially using the picks and sharpe to get someone like Giannis so it gives the a lot of options to win now and the future with jokic being 31 and showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon and for Portlands side of things it makes sense also bc they are obviously looking to be a more win now team and Jamal would help a lot with that him being a great scorer specially a 3 point scorer which they need desperately and poring him with Damian lillard coming back next year would be one of the most deadly guard scoring duos in the league sure Portland would take a step down from a defensive standpoint but they have a lot of great defensive players that can makeup for it that being one of Portlands biggest strengths the whole year with a starting 5 of lillard,murray,Toumani,Deni, and Clingon with quality players coming off the bench like scoot Henderson, Jerami Grant and valanciunas that’s a pretty good team and could potentially be a top 4 seed in the west and valanciunas would be a key part of this deal if Portland can’t bring back Robert Williams so it would help solidify their center depth
