Today is the start of a new series. One trade for every team to make in the NBA Offseason. To start this series off it's the top team in the East, the Cleveland Cavs.
Cavs Perspective: The one known hole on the Cavs roster is backup big. Behind the 7FT tandem of Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley their next best bigs are Dean Wade and Tristan Thompson. That's an issue for a potential contender. They have a deep wing rotation and can afford to expend a wing in Isaac Okoro who has seen his role decline after the recent acquisition of Deandre Hunter. Robert Williams brings defensive elite versatility, elite rebounding and lineup versatility off the bench. They also acquire him at a slight discount to compensate for his shaky injury history.
Trail Blazers Perspective: The Trail Blazers have an influx of bigs on their current roster. Weather it's Deandre Ayton or Robert Williams one of them will likely be moved this offseason to make room for former #7 overall pick Donovan Clingan. In this scenario it's Robert Williams. The Trail Blazers aquire a nice 3&D wing Isaac Okoro, G/F Craig Porter (who's showed flashes of production throughout his 2 years on the Cavs) and 2 seconds. The Trail Blazers feel comfortable moving Robert Williams who has struggled with injuries as of late, to make room for Donovan Clingan to get more minutes.
Cavs Trade Grade: A
Trailblazers Trade Grade: B
