    Why Boston does it:

    • JJ Redick could be a season-altering pick up for the Celtics. His ability to provide instant offense off the bench (or in a starting role) would be the ideal addition for Brad Stevens’ group. Especially for a team that struggles to provide scoring while it’s bench is in at times, Redick would be able to give the Celtics an extra punch during lulls and rough stretches of game we’ve seen. Also just imagine their floor spacing with Brown, Redick and Tatum on the court at the same time — defenses would be rendered with an impossible task trying to stop Boston’s offense as it turns into a nightmare.

    • Carsen Edwards, along with this year’s first-rounder, may seem like a high-price to pay - but I fully expect the Pelicans to drive up the price with other offers. Realistically Danny Ainge shouldn’t worry about losing a first-rounder this year with as deep a roster he has going into the future.

    Why New Orleans does it:

    • It’s already been reported the Pelicans are actively shopping and it makes sense, they won’t be in contention this year and Redick provides an opportunity for them to add some draft capital through trade. Yes, New Orleans could theoretically test the waters and see what other offers might be out there, but I doubt many teams would be willing too offer this much.
