Why Boston do this: The finals showed Boston to be shallow in the scoring department when Tatum and Brown couldn't create offense for themselves. Swapping Pritchard for Clarkson gives them a significant upgrade in bench scoring, they would have an elite shot creator for the either unit who would offer them massive scoring relief when facing other second units or when offered the chance to lead the first unit should Tatum and Brown be cold.

Why Utah do it: The Gobert trade seems to indicate they are looking to completely rebuild. Whilst 4 frps for Gobert is a massive haul, none of the player personel they received in return is indicative of a desire to try and win the West. This offers them a chance to acquire more draft capital for an asset of huge use to a contending team who will likely be past him best by the time the Jazz have a viable championship window again.
