The most interesting prospect to me so far. A skinny 6ft 8 ball handling wing with driving upside, elite touch, and defensive upside. He uses his strides well in the open and half court. This is where he has his most success as a driver. He has a solid handle but isn't creative, this is the major area of his ball handling I'd like to see him improve on. He plays bigger than his frame, he takes contact well and draws a lot of fouls. He lacks the burst to separate from his man so he usually tries to initiate contact first and go up strong. He is an elite finisher, he favors his right hand but he can score with both. Great touch close to the basket, would like to see him attempt more floaters, I think this is an area that can become a strength. I think undoubtedly he'll be a wing in the NBA, but Colorado trusts him to take the ball up the court. This is where we see him in a playmaking role. This is where I have a question mark on his game. He doesn't have bad vision, he usually finds the open man but I didn't see any reeds that really popped. I think one day he can be a solid connective passer, he isn't terrible right now, but he has a very low assist numbers in a solid shooting offense. Another major question mark on his game is his shooting. He is currently shooting a ridiculously high clip from three but on very low volume. His free throw percentages aren't great and his form isn't bad but it also isn't textbook. He isn't versatile as a shooter at all, I looked at all of his threes this year and they are all catch and shoot. A high end offensive outlook for him would be a driving wing with 3pt shooting and passable connective passing. I also saw some cutting from Cody, he attempted to find the openings in the defense and face cutted to the rim. If he develops more creativity off the dribble, starts ramping up the volume from three, and becomes a more frequent cutter, he'll be very solid. He will need to put on weight if he wants to finish in the NBA like he is in college though. On defense, he's solid on the ball, he isn't quick laterally but yet he's versatile enough to guard most guards due to his recovery speed. He'll need to gain weight to guard the NBA wings, but I project him to be solid at that eventually. The glaring flaw in his defensive game is his off ball defense. I see a vision of him having some weak-side rim protection, but his current tactic off ball negates that. He either completely sticks to his man not in help, or is over helping and allowing a wide open three. He also ball watches a ton, he allows easy back cuts when he isn't paying attention. If he doesn't clean this up he'll be exposed in the NBA. He flashed some activity in the passing lanes so that's a good sign. Overall defensively, he'll need to put on weight. Cody won't be a good defender coming in to the league and he will need to be more active off ball. His upside on defense is a major reason he is getting considered so high. He has good length and versatility, if he can develop some weakside rim protection he could hit that next tier. A high end outcome for him could be an all star, and if that's not the case, I'm confident he'll be impactful for some team in his NBA career. He needs to be able to knockdown the three and use his handle more effectively if he wants to hit his ceiling on offense. His length and fluidity make it easy to look past some athletic limitations. On defense, he will need to gain weight and be more active off the ball. I don't think he'll be good to start his career, but he's too good right now to called a project, just a bit raw. I don't think he'll ever be a number one option, but he has the makings to impact winning at a high level.
