How would NFL Draft Prospects do in College Basketball? (New Series)

Guys like Jalen Carter, Will Anderson, and Bryce Young are obviously great athletes. But how would they do in college basketball? Today, I’ll be using College Basketball Coach on Zengm.com to sim the careers of 5 prospects and see if Basketball could have been in their future too. They’ll start as freshman at the current size they’re at.

The 5 Prospects:

PG Bryce Young, Alabama Yellowhammers

5’10 205 40 ovr / 81 pot

SG CJ Stroud, Ohio Buckeyes

6’3 218 39 ovr / 80 pot

G Bijan Robinson, Texas Rangers

5’11 215 31 ovr / 76 pot

F Jalen Carter, Georgia Pecans

6’3 300 35 ovr / 77 pot

F Will Anderson Jr, Alabama Yellowhammers

6’4 240 34 ovr / 76 pot

These guys are all the worst on their teams, but they’re only freshmen.

Bryce Young played 2 games and averaged 4 PPG.

Bijan Robinson played 3 games and averaged 2.3 PPG.

Everyone else was a reserve.

Onto Year 2!

New overalls:

CJ Stroud 57/85

Bryce Young 57/87

Jalen Carter 53/82

Bijan Robinson 47/76

Will Anderson Jr. 40/74

Will Anderson also transferred to Kentucky as he wasn’t good enough at Alabama and got his scholarship pulled.

3 players (Stroud, Robinson, Young) were main rotation players for their teams. Robinson averaged the most points, rebounds and minutes with 5.4 PPG and 2 RPG on 17 MPG. He also shot 43% from 3. Young played 13 MPG and averaged 3.3 PPG. Stroud played 9 MPG and averaged 2.5 PPG. Carter and Anderson were reserves.

So far, these guys aren’t that good, but next season could be where they get more opportunities. Onto year 3!

New Overalls:

Bryce Young 68/89, he will be the 6th man for Alabama.

CJ Stroud 62/80, he’ll be the 7th man for Ohio State.

Bijan Robinson 60/80, he’s the starting SG for Texas.

Will Anderson Jr. 57/74, he’s the 9th man for Kentucky.

Jalen Carter 56/78, he’s the 11th man for Georgia.

Stats

Bijan Robinson: 12/4/1 on 45/37/85 splits

Bryce Young: 7/4/3 on 38/27/79 splits

CJ Stroud: 5/2/2 on 41/30/76 splits

Will Anderson Jr: 5/2/0 on 45/30/73 splits

Jalen Carter: 2/1/0 on 42/53/100 splits

Bijan seems to be separating as the best one, but anyone still has a chance.

Bryce Young departed for the NBA Draft after his Junior season but went undrafted. He would average 5 PPG for his career.

New Overalls:

Jalen Carter 65/82

CJ Stroud 62/79

Bijan Robinson 60/76

Will Anderson Jr. 57/74

Stats:

Bijan Robinson: 11/3/1 on 44/40/88 splits

Jalen Carter: 9/3/1 on 48/45/92 splits

Will Anderson Jr: 8/3/1 on 53/37/60 splits

CJ Stroud: 6/3/3 on 40/37/72 splits

And that ends the NFL Prospect Basketball experiment! This was mostly unsuccessful, but some players have a future in basketball now:

Bijan Robinson got drafted 27th overall into the NBA Draft, and is projected to be a bench spark plug for a team.

Bryce Young declared early but wasn’t drafted, but he’s a decent PG in the G League.

C.J. Stroud could never figure out the scoring aspect, but he’s a good playmaking wing in the EuroLeague.

Jalen Carter got drafted 49th overall but was cut due to weight. He latched onto a two-way and is a good shooting forward.

Will Anderson Jr. went to play in Taiwan and is averaging 31 PPG with 8 blocks.

If you wanna see more of this, please leave suggestions! I’m totally down to make this a series!
