This is the second installment, and this series is restarted by me from popular demand (unlike other series' I've started).
Sit back, get your popcorn, and let's begin.
Firstly, we begin with the 6th Man of the Year. This award was highly contested throughout polling, but in the end, there can only be one winner.
That winner, is thesWagduck! He pulled it out in the final hours to win his first ever FanSpo award!
Here are his words from his inspiring win: i would say that i didnt expect this, but then id be a liar.
Hopefully we see him in the upcoming years winning more awards.
Next up is Rookie of the Year. Fun Fact: This award can only be won once (unless your name is Ben Simmons), so winning this award is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
This post was a runaway from the start, and no one had a chance.
The winner is: guru!
Here are his thoughts on winning this poll: 100% recency bias just like all of the other awards.
Seems like he takes a lot of pride in winning this award.
Next up is the most contested award out of all of them, and that is the Mock of the Year award. It started out as an oddly close poll, as most thought that one was clearly superior over all the others (their pick likely wasn't superior). Some people showed doubt on whether one poll or the other should win. But in the end, two had a chance to come out victorious. The Chaos Mock, by SchlenkSystem, and the Trade Frenzy Mock, between lakeshowszn and TheBuzzerBeater. Now, if you remember what I said about the first poll, there can only be one winner.
I was anxious, but decided to just brush it off. After waking up the next morning, I was in shock. It was a tie! I didn't know how to settle it, so I didn't, and left it that way. However, now that I'm writing this post, I had to think of a solution fast. I could repoll, but that's lame. If it ends in a tie again, I'll look stupid. So, I set it up to random. 1 to 1000 on the random number generator, odd numbers for the Chaos Mock, even numbers for the Trade Frenzy Mock.
1 - 0 Trade Frenzy Mock, after landing 480
2 - 0, after landing 712, it was looking promising
2 - 1, the Chaos Mock hopes are still alive after rolling 679
3 - 1, it looks over, and I'm ready to click back to the tab after rolling 730
3 - 2, after rolling 21, it seems as if SchlenkSystem has been relying on a lot of music references.
3 - 3, after rolling 5, it's all tied up.
And, to win it all, I anxiously clicked generate one more time.
The number it rolled: 423
The Chaos Mock and SchlenkSystem had made the most unprecedented comeback in FanSpo award history.
Here are his thoughts about winning the award: Feels great, very happy that I finally ran a successful mock. So much so that it got copied at least 4 times.
I like the response, now let's move on to a less contested poll, with New Feature of the Year.
This one was a runaway to start with, and I'm not surprised.
The winner is: Grids!
Unfortunately, I can't get any feedback on this award, so we'll just move on.
Next is text post of the year, and a lot was on the line for this post. There were only two options, but both posts were created by someone who won an award last year. Except, one person won three awards, and the other just got an All-FanSpo team selection (at least it was first team.) Two legends on this site went at it (not really, one wasn't here). It was Atto vs. Shooter. Shooter's post came out in front early, but Atto's post made a huge comeback. However, were these efforts enough?
No
The winner is: ShooterMcGrady! With his post titled; Called To Serve: The ShooterMcGrady Story
I actually have some spicy dialogue from Shooter ready to be shared. He gave a response to the award, but also a message to the FanSpo community.
He says "Sick, I preferred "with great power" personally but I am glad I have not been forgotten."
And now for his message: He says "I miss them very much and that it is torture to be on the outside looking in to NBA and the draft. I shall see you when I see you. #Gobert4DPOY"
To Trade of the Year we go! This was the least contested poll out of all of them, a 100 - 0 sweep in fact (one person misvoted)
The winner is: ClipFan3! With his post titled: Dame to the South Beach 🏝️ 🔥
Here are his words: It’s pretty cool to have this award and awesome that the trade did so well. I never thought it would blow up the way it did, it getting on a KOT4Q video, and is one of the top trades on this site. Thanks to everyone who voted on the trade.
Good to hear
Now, we have the grand finale.
The cream of the crop
The king in the medieval social pyramid of awards
The crown jewel of award
You get it.
It's the MVP award.
The original options out there were some I expected. Shooter, Schlenk, Waynoe, "Me" (like they said themselves).
But one fascinated myself the most. KobeBufkin4ROTY said "I’m not glazing, but you."
I responded to this comment with a very bold "ok", not noticing that he said me.
Until I made the MVP post. I was reading through the submissions, and saw that one post. I was kinda shocked, but I didn't want to disclude myself, so I hesitantly put my name in expecting a lot of hate.
And a lot of hate I indeed got. thesWagduck and 49ERSFOREVER both said "bro tried to put himself in here" and "Bro put himself in there" respectively. I was worried, until I voted on the post. I was winning??? This had to be an alternate reality, so I browsed the site for 30 minutes trying to find anyone who posted anything about me winning this post. I woke up the next morning, and I couldn't believe it. I had won. I had still gotten hate. DeadPoole commented "How did you win????" The worst part is, I agreed with him.
Most people would be celebrating this victory. But I was ashamed. For reference, I didn't vote for myself New snapshot feature , this is just what unfolded. I have one burner, where I didn't vote on.
My thoughts are: This voting process sucks, I never should've won.
I almost wanted to do a repoll, but it would be 10x funnier for an award show host to commentate themselves winning.
That's it, thank you for reading. If you've made it this far, thank your for taking the time to read through all the nonsense I typed. I could've done something similar to what Curry4MVPs did last year, but I decided against it. Putting it in one blob seemed more fit to me, and it didn't give FOMO (don't know if that helps or not.)
See you next year
