KE'EL WARE BREAKDOWN

Out of anyone in this draft class I'm the most above consensus on Ware. At 7 foot tall he's a fluid mover, great rebounder, rim protector, and a good passer as well. His strong suit is his defense. He already has an NBA frame. He's a great shot blocker as he uses his great length and timing to swat anything near the rim. He could work on getting off the ground quicker but that is nitpicking considering how good of a rim protector he is. I wouldn't call him super versatile but he does solid against wings. He's got good defensive instincts as well, he is at the right place at the right time and this causes him to be very disruptive. He can be a bit out of control but I expect him to clean that up. He's also a very strong defensive rebounder. He's effective off postups, using his touch or his fadeaway to generate looks. Indiana does not run plays to get him lobs but I think it is fair to assume an athletic 7 footer can become an elite lob threat. He also scores off put-backs and offensive rebounds at a high rate. He's a solid passer for a center. His passes are accurate from the top of the key in designed plays for shooters/cutters and he is smart about kicking it out to shooters from the post. He can be a bit out of control in the post. The next step for Ware's offensive game is his shooting. He's shooting an okay clip from three on solid volume but he needs to work on shooting in rhythm. Some of his attempts are not shots he should be taking. It's too early to tell how good a shooter he'll be and if he'll play in a stretch big role, but with good form, and okay free throw percentages, I think he'll have some type of shooting in the NBA. He's quick to get out in transition using his long strides and speed to get easy baskets. He also flashes a euro in transition which was impressive for someone of his size. I think he can be an above average defender and rebounder from day 1. He'll need to become more in control and work on his finishing in the post as he currently relies too much of his finishing on his size and strength. If he wants to be in that next stratosphere of bigs his shot needs to be more consistent. His form looks a bit different from the three and the mid range, he will need to fully lock in his mechanics. I think Ware is an elite prospect.
