Why Hornets do this 🐝: LaMelo Ball and the Hornets have been bad the last couple of years and LaMelo really needs a co-star to cool the load for LaMelo. This year the Hornets were ranked 14th and only won 19 games. Zion Williamson has been unreliable but when he does play he is an all-star talent. The Hornets still have a lot of draft capital and depth after this trade. Miles Bridges has been great for Charlotte the last 4 years averaging about 20 points in those 3 seasons but they should try to trade him when his value his high. They also get a 2031 2nd in return which is something. The Hornets still have Brandon Miller, Josh Okogie, Mark Williams, and Josh Green having a good balanced roster.

Why Pelicans do this 🎷: The Pelicans are in a rebuilding stance as they traded Ingram to Toronto and the Pelicans also finished 14th in their conference. Zion has been a disappointment for the Pelicans as he only played 30 games and he isn't reliable. He isn't a franchise player and I think New Orleans should trade him while he is at a younger age. They also get Salaun in return who can get more minutes and a better chance in New Orleans. Pelicans get draft capital in return.

HORNETS NEW LINEUP: Ball, Miller, Okogie, Williamson, Williams

PELICANS NEW LINEUP: Murray, McCollum, Bridges, Murphy, Missi

IMO both teams improve after this trade as it balances out both of the lineups and it gives the Hornets a real power forward and gives the Pelicans nice assets.
