Have ya’ll seen Dame’s quotes lately. If you haven’t, he’s stated on multiple occasions recently that he’s not gonna wait for guys that need two or three years to develop. You know who fits that… your boy Sharpe. You know who the Blazers have been interested in? They’ve tried to pry Anunoby away from the Raptors several times over the past few years, and that makes total sense. He’s the most versatile defender in the NBA, he can create his own shot in isolation. He fits the Blazer’s biggest needs, the Raptors have been rumored to have players on the roster who want to leave or are literally planning to leave this upcoming offseason (Fred VanVleet). They’ve also been rumored to value young players over picks, which means that Sharpe is the most valuable piece they could grab in a trade. Yah, giving up your top 5 pick plus your best young prospect isn’t the greatest option, but it’s PORTLAND. This organization is desperate, and also pretty incompetent. Look back at their latest trade deadline failure. You remember who was untouchable? Simons. You know who wasn’t? Sharpe. This is a realistic move, and I would honestly say it’s worth it. Anunoby solves a ton of issues for this team, and grabbing Achuiwa on top of that to cover up Nurkic’s issues on defense is a huge deal. Nurkic isn’t included because his salary is just too much to move at this point for anything of value and as bad as he was as a fit this year, he’s still important for the team with less minutes. Little was rumored to be of interest to the Jazz, THT has been linked to the Raptors a multitude of time to fill in their PG spot if VanVleet leaves. This move makes sense for everyone involved and any move including Sharpe that is posted on this site may not be objectively the right decision, but purely based on realism, it makes sense that he’s unjustifiably undervalued in a move from the Blazers this off-season. I’m not saying it’s right, I would actually lean towards trading Dame and avoid moving Sharpe under any circumstances because he’s pretty legit, but I do think it is super likely the Blazers make a desperate move this off-season, especially including him.
