Nuggets : B-

I don’t hate this deal, I don’t love it either. But if the Nets believe Johnson and whoever they can add with the money saved can get them a championship, then I understand it. This is most likely the Nuggets last impactful move via trade because this is their last tradeable first. Johnson and Porter are very similar players, but Johnson’s trajectory has been increasing whereas Porter has seemed to flatline, especially as a shot creator. Johnson gives them another shot creator and most importantly, saves them money to add another contributor.

Nets : B+

This seems like a small return especially since the Nets are saving Denver so much money but I feel like it’s a solid move. This pick should be very valuable, as Jokic will be in his very late 30s. Porter could also net some value for the Nets via trade, especially next year when he’s on an expiring so he’d be a rental without long term financial consequences. Probably could’ve gotten more, but we’ll have to see what they get for Porter to really grade this deal.
