Lakers : B

This an intriguing move for the Lakers. They desperately needed a center and those picks may not be anything special. Still, trading picks 6 years down the road with your second best player being 40 is always gonna be a risk even with Luka. Knecht was also looking like the future 3 and D wing that the Lakers had been searching for. However, adding DFS minimizes the need for him and Mark Williams will be the starting center going forward for years to come as he is only 23. Overall a little expensive but still a good move for the Lakers.

Hornets : B+

I would imagine it must be hard for Hornets fans to trade away a budding young center in Mark Williams but this shows the growth in maturity of this franchise. They’re looking forward to the future now by adding Knecht and a pick and a swap that could be very valuable. This also allows for Knecht to grow with more opportunity in Charlotte. He can provide some excellent floor spacing for franchise cornerstones Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball. Overall, losing Williams hurts but they get a good return for him.
