Its apparent that Kyle Kuzma is too good for the Wizards, he doesn't fit their rebuild and a playoff caliber team could really use his scoring ability.

Why the Mavs do it: The Dallas Mavericks get Kyle Kuzma who would be an amazing third scoring option benefitting from Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, he will come in and play either forward position and score with increased efficiency since he's now the third option. He has also shown before that if he's locked in and the teams winning, he can defend. This deal will boost the Mavs to being a sure fire playoff team and give them potential to go on a run like they did a couple years ago. Kuz can score on all 3 levels and get you 20+ on any given night along with 6 boards and a few assists, and his field goal percentage is increased from last year across the board. I don't see any reason why the Mavs wouldn't do this deal. Its in their best interest to maximize Lukas winning potential.

Why the Wizards do it: Lets be real, the Wizards aren't trying to go out and win a bunch of games, its probably best to trade Kuzma. O-Max Prosper is a good young piece that becomes an addition to the long term core. The 21 year old, 6'7 forward has a high motor, loves to run the floor and get out in transition, can dunk/finish through contact, has good footwork in the paint, and brings high energy. he averaged 12.5/4.7/0.7 on 51/34/73.5% shooting splits in his junior season at Marquette. The 3 ball needs a little work but he's 21 and has ample time to develop a shot, being on the Wizards. Arguably the strongest part of his game is his defensive ability. He is very versatile, he is fast and laterally quick enough to guard guards, he can also guard wings and bigs being 6'7, 220. He is great at avoiding screens and staying with whoever he is guarding. His defensive IQ is also high, it seems like he is always where he needs to be. In this trade the Wizards also get Richaun Holmes and Maxi Kleber who could log game minutes and be vets in the locker room or they could just be flipped or bought out. The 2026 first and 2025 second are picks that the Wizards are looking for though. I also think its very likely that its 2 firsts and not a first and a second.
