BATSH*T IDEA. HOUSTON/BROOKLYN/ATLANTA

Hear me out.

I personally think Houston giving their picks back and a bunch of young talent to Brooklyn for Bridges is too much. But I also understand that me thinking Jalen and their 2024 pick back (currently projected at 8) may not be enough for Nets fans.

This very messy idea, runs with Houston moving Jalen and Brooklyn's 24' first round pick (imo closer to fair value), for Bridges and the massive contract of Ben Simmons.

By all accounts, Simmons and his current contract are a negative asset that no one in the league wants to touch and if Brooklyn were to move him, it would likely involve adding assets to him at this point. So instead of adding assets, they use his negative value to balance out this trade with Houston.

This also means Houston giving up a bunch of players, most likely to be waived (Jock only has his first year guaranteed) but leaves them with a solid 9 man rotation to fill out the year. They can fill the other spots with minimum salaries and their 2 way guys if need be. Which is a massive risk in itself.

It also means that Houston lose all their cap space next year with Simmons still being on their roster. However, they will be able to go over to sign Sengun to a big contract and Simmons will be gone by the time Tari and Jabari's contracts come up (along with Dillon Brooks being on a decreasing contract and FFV not being fully guaranteed)

Nets salvage some of the rotation pieces they get from Houston to turn it into another young player that may just need a new home to flourish (and with the rise in Jalen Johnsons minutes I think there is an overlap in talent).

Very messy, don't think it happens but it's an.. idea I guess.
