Celtics : A-
This is a solid deal for Boston. They offload a ton of salary space and swap picks with Atlanta. Plus, they add Niang who could help them as a cheap role player in the future. The only reason I didn’t give them an A is because I feel like they could’ve gotten more for Porzingis. However, this massively eased their financial crisis and perhaps they could resign Simons now. Pairing this with drafting or trading for another center would make this deal more complete.
Hawks : A-
Solid deal for Atlanta. They pay a relatively cheap price and land a great starting center in return. Porzingis is still in his prime, and in a wide open East the Hawks can now begin to contend. Trae, Daniels, Risacher, Johnson, and Porzingis in the starting lineup would be elite offensively and defensively, with great floor spacing and length to cover for Trae’s defensive weaknesses. They do have to offload some picks including the 22nd pick in this year’s draft, but they still keep their 13th overall one. The only reason I have it at an A- and not an A is because of the injury risk that comes with Porzingis. Otherwise, solid deal.
Nets : A
No complaints about this for Brooklyn. They take on Mann’s contract and in return they net a decent first rounder in a very deep draft class. This also gives them the option of packaging these picks to trade up and take Ace Bailey if they want to.
