Taking on Klay’s expiring contract saves the team money next year. Losing Jimmy isn’t the end of the world. Dude is hurt a lot and doesn’t show up till the playoffs and the team has had success regardless. Plus he’s 34. This just clears the runway for their young guys.

Warriors - Klay has been pretty bad, that’s it. And you get a chance to pair Jimmy Butler with Steph and put together a short window of possible playoff runs for this season plus maybe two more years before I expect these guys to really fall off. Is it worth giving up Podz, a frp, and a probably bitter ending with Klay? I don’t know. I’m just throwing ideas out
