The fit of Fultz on this team isn't perfect but with him being the primary Guard on a team that will start him is crucial. With the Magic's backcourt of Suggs and Anthony, Fultz role will be limited so trading him for value is really good. They also get Franz Wagner who is a good shooter and a good all around player. You're also adding Rj Hampton that didn't have a role in Orlando or Denver and can now have one on a team without star guards or a extreme deep guard rotation. They also get Mo bamba who is in the same position as Rj Hampton he gets the opportunity to thrive on this squad. His ability of athleticism, 3 point shooting and blocking ability fits perfectly next to Zion. Because they trade away Jaxson Hayes (who wasn't a good fit) he can easily get the backup C role. Because they get worse they also get better draft picks who could potentially be a second superstar around Zion. And now you give him a supporting cast sense everybody else on the roster isn't as valuable since Lonzo left. And all of these players have high potential they just need the opportunity and the Pelicans give them that. Especially Markelle Fultz and Bamba as they were top 6 picks for a reason

They also get rid of Mo Bamba who is just rotting away off the bench because of his lack of opportunity as well. And of course you're going to have to give up assets for an All-star- caliber player.
