Why the Sixers do this:
James Harden may want to go to Houston if the 76ers don’t have a good postseason. This has been a rumor for months, and this deal sends him there while getting another great guard in Damian Lillard. Dame is loyal so that shouldn’t be a worry for Philly, and they don’t give up much value beyond Harden to get him.
Why the Rockets do this:
This deal could bring Harden back to Houston while getting rid of some ball-dominant guards to allow their former MVP to dominate. With Harden returning, having both Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. becomes redundant. So, they deal Porter Jr. along with the picks they acquired in exchange for Harden to Portland.
Why the Blazers do this:
It may be smart for the Blazers to look toward the future. They may not even make the play-in this year, and getting maximum value for Lillard should be paramount. This deal brings in 5 full, unprotected first round picks and a young guard with all-star upside in Porter Jr., along with a few other pieces. This should be more than enough value in exchange for Dame.
