Lakers get off Russ' massive contract and instead take on two smaller bad contracts, but also add to their depth. It's clear that Russ isn't a good fit. Aside from efficiency issues, Russ needs the ball in his hands and on a LeBron team, that's just not going to happen. Horford is serviceable (although on a bad contract) and can fit in a number of different line ups at either the 4 or 5.

Celtics get a playmaker (Russ) to set up Tatum and Brown. Celtics would need to be sure that they can convince Russ to focus on assists over scoring. For all of his other flaws, Russ seems to take on whatever role is given to him. He also has elite court vision which would serve him well in setting up Tatum and Brown. This season is looking like a write off for Celtics anyway, so why not take a shot with Russ - I can think of $44m reasons but it's intriguing all the same!
