Nets have 4 FRP this year, plus pick 35 and I don't think they want to add 5 new rookies. They can get those picks out of the way and potentially get good value in the future.

The Lakers get two picks that can result in cheap young players for several years and in this way they can go after a player or players with a high salary without going overboard.

Or use them for some exchange.
