The Phoenix Suns have four huge contracts. DeAndre Ayton has been in trade talks for a while right now. And I’m not sure his relationship with the Suns is going well. Combine that with the Suns having basically minimum players everywhere else, they desperately could use some depth.
The Washington Wizards should be one of the teams interested in Ayton if he becomes available. They are currently rebuilding, but they have some solid young talent in Tyus Jones, Jordan Poole, Bilal Coulibaly, and Kyle Kuzma. Why not add Ayton. Despite not living up to expectations, he’s still a young center who put up 18 and 10 last season. He’d get more opportunities in Washington to show his talent.
The Suns get three solid players. Daniel Gafford who would replace Ayton and still be very productive, Delon Wright who’d immediately be their backup point guard and defensive presence, and Deni Avdija. He’s still a very solid defensive wing who could very well improve on offense.
