Jazz Buy In and Bulls Blow it Up

SUCCESS

++JAZZ++ What if the Jazz decide to buy? They have enough assets and cap to be able to move players that can help contending teams like the Mavs and Knicks, while having enough draft capital to satisfy tanking teams for their stars.

In this trade the jazz decide to buy low on two all star caliber player's one in Murray who they can outbid every other team with picks and Lavine who's market value has sunk and they get get him reactively cheap.

Immediately they have one of the quicker, better perimeter shooting, and bucket getter teams adding these two all star caliber players with Lauri.

This makes them a potentially more lethal team, with mid 20's age all star players locked in on multiple year deals, draft picks still ready to trade, extra cap space before the tax, and a group of young guys developing/potentially able to be traded.

I think they can compete for a playoff spot with this team, and then in the offseason look to make some more moves to bring in an available superstar/core rotation guys to help the identity of this team.

Starting Lineup:

  • PG: Sexton

  • SG: Murray

  • SF: Lavine

  • PF: Markennen

  • C: Collins

Next Moves: Look to Trade for wing defender's and a facilitating PG

Potential targets this season: Tyus Jones, Delon Wright, Matisse Thybulle.

++Bulls++ Pretty self explanatory, they blow it up, and are relieved to be getting the draft capital they didn't think was going to come for that Lavine contract. They also move on from Vucevic for more draft picks and a nice young piece in Jaden Hardy. With all the expiring contracts, they also have an opportunity to have a large amount of cap in the offseason to sign whoever they want.

++Knicks++ They traded Immanuel Quickly, and miss his spark off the bench. So they decide to hop in on the deal and get Clarkson to help them with that bench gaurd scoring. They give up some picks in this years draft they're not too tied to, and they get to relieve themselves from the Fournier expiring.

++Hawks++ The Hawks want to get rid of Murray and the Jazz simply just have enough picks to outbid every other team. Also they get a young Horton Tucker they would look to resign in the offseason, and are happy to just not have too much of a negative ROI on their initial trade for Murray.

++Mavericks++ The Mavericks desperately need to improve their roster around Luka to compete, and this trade does that in a more impactful way then they would've thought possible. They have to give up a young hardy, tradable Kleber and Holmes contracts, and all their tradeable picks, but bringing in a legit Center Vucevic as a 3rd piece to Luka and Kyrie is worth it. They also get two role players in Carter & Craig that could help them in the postseason.

Overall:

I really like this idea for each of these teams, I think each aspect of the trade benefits each team. I could see the Mavericks not pulling this off with the assets they give up, but I also think that the bulls would be desperate to make a trade work that helps them off the Lavine contract. So if that means taking potentially one less 1st rounder then maybe they do that. They could also ask the Mavs to include another young player, which would even it a little bit more.

Also each team sits under the tax apron with this with the Mavs barely under, but it's also a financially friendly deal for each team that GM's and Front Office would be more willing to approve.
