I'm trying this new thing where I have a random number generator pick two teams and I have to find a trade between them. So far, it's been interesting. I don't know if it'll be realistic. But I'll do my best.
Why they do this:
Nuggets
Kyle Anderson is a high-level role player who can do a little bit of everything. He defends, shoots, can slash even if it's slow, and passes well at size. He also brings championship level maturity and leadership in the locker room which Denver should continue to add to extend their run.
Christian Braun is a potential loss as he had some big moments on the finals and was a rotational piece, but I think Kyle Anderson is clearly better and would be capable of stepping up in big moments like those.
TWOLVES
A big part of the reason I chose Kyle Anderson is because I think he will request a trade. In the aftermath of the Rudy Gobert punch, he was quoted as saying "it's him or me." While I think just about every Minnesota player and coach would pick Anderson, Gobert is kind of immovable. They sunk such an insane amount of assets into him and they might not even be able to move his bad contract to any real gain. They're stuck with him at this point.
At least this way they can add some young pieces to grow around Ant. I think at some point they'll also move KAT to continue to retool around Ant. This seems like the best path forward for the dumpster fire that has Minnesota playing win now strategy and ending up in the play-in.
Christian Braun has done a lot to raise his value for good reason. He performed in a high pressure moment as a rookie and displayed a range of skills, IQ, and unselfish basketball. Zeke Nnaji could be a decent 4/stretch 5 in the pick and roll and on the glass. Peyton Watson is in for salary. He might have some upside.
