The Mavericks acquire Nurkic and Little for two guys that were out of the rotation plus a second round pick that would have no value to a team with championship aspirations. Although Nurkic isn’t the long term answer at center, he would immediately be their best center plus Little gives them a solid young defensive wing to add to their roster. This is the type of move the Mavericks need to pull, especially considering their lack of assets at the moment.

The Blazers do this to get rid of Nurkic’s terrible contract. Losing Little will hurt but it didn’t seem like he was in their long term plan regardless. Moving on from Nurkic will likely require a first attached to it, which this rebuilding Blazers squad can’t afford. So instead they entice the Mavericks throwing Little in the deal.

The Knicks find a backup big that can provide offensive juice off the bench. The Knicks know adding Donte isn’t going to all of a sudden make them championship contenders. They need to make more moves to beef up their offense and it starts with adding Wood to their bench unit.
